Riders in other, more urban parts of the UK read national cycling magazines which feature pictures of roads and scenery we have in abundance in South West Scotland. The Galloway Forest is on our doorstep and the weekly Sunday Club Run de-camped there for an Away Day in glorious sunny weather. The 60 mile circuit climbed up to the summit of Darngatroch where the views across to Gatehouse of Fleet were spectacular. Lunch was in Newton Stewart. Rider Martin Shields ordered first and, as usual, was served last. After lunch it was a climb up the Queens Drive, past Raiders Road, and up to Clatteringshaws Loch. Twenty three riders of all abilities took part, the pace was steady and social, and there were no fewer than seven punctures. Plenty of time to admire the views then.
