Saturday evening saw a club social to the Glasgow Film Theatre to see 'Time Trial', a newly-released film about Scottish professional cyclist David Millar, including a post film Q&A session with the film's director and David Millar himself. Millar is one of Scotlandâs most successful pro cyclists and took part in twelve Tours de France. FWCC and Sprockets rider Natalie Hunter was a little surprised to meet him accidentally in the foyer on the way back from the bar. Playing it cool she heard herself saying "youâre the chap in the film!" and Millar replying, "aye, hen". The film revealed how the pro peloton is not so different from the amateur club ride, at least in terms of 'characters' and humour. When asked by an audience member whether any of us were likely to see him pedalling up the Crow Road, and whether he would try to beat us up the climb, he was a little coy saying "that competitive memory chip has been removed now. I just ride for enjoyment". We almost believed him.
