The Scottish Cycling National 25 mile Time Trial took place in Aberdeen on Sunday with Fullarton Wheelers' well represented. You know it has been a fast morning when top seed David Griffiths finishes in only 8th place with a blistering time of 49' 59". Ahead of him were three riders who broke 49 minutes with the eventual winner being Commonwealth Games rider Kyle Gordon who finished in 48' 38" (an average speed of 30.84mph). It was such a shame the event was missing John Archibald who was riding elsewhere, and scary to think John caught and passed Kyle at last week's Scottish CTT 25, eventually beating him by 3' 08". As for Fullarton Wheelers, this was a morning when Personal Bests tumbled and some superb placings were achieved in what was obviously a top quality field. In the women's event Catherine Logan finished well up the standings in 12th in 01' 03' 22" (23.67mph) and club secondary member Aileen Clyde was 10th in 01' 02' 39" (23.94mph). The winner, in a new Scottish Women's record of 54' 52" (27.34mph) was Aerotech rider Vicky Smith. In the men's event FWCC Chairman Derek Skinner finished in 68th place with a PB of 58' 14" (25.76mph) and Steve Watters was 78th with a PB of 58' 59" (25.43mph), both excellent times. Gordon Graham was faster still, but missed his PB by 31' and finished in 47th place with 55' 45" (26.91mph). Well done to all Fullarton riders who took part, particularly to Gordon who clocked the Club’s fastest time on the day, and to Derek and Steve on achieving PBs. This duo, incidentally, are level pegging in victories, having beaten each other four times this season.
