Chris Blakely, John Deans and Sean Barron represented Fullarton Wheelers in the Wanlockhead Road Race. Promoted by Loudoun Road Club, this tough 56 mile route started in Muirkirk before taking in the steep climb to Glespin wind farm. From here the course took in the fast B road down the valley to Sanquhar. After several more miles of main road the riders took on the fearsome Mennock Pass, a Category 3 climb of 7 miles that leads to Britain's highest village, Wanlockhead. After a fast descent the route heads back across the hills of South Lanarkshire to Glespin & finishes at the start point in Muirkirk. No official results yet but Sean remained in contact with the leading group until near the top of the pass before crossing the line with a rider from East Kilbride Road Club, finishing mid table. John put in a strong performance for his first road race with FWCC, finishing around another half hour back. Chris finished several minutes behind him. The event was won by Stuart Paterson of Edinburgh Road Club.
