30 May. Ten Under The Ben MTB race at Fort william:

1000 :o riders.
11 mile laps on the side of Ben Nevis.
8000 feet of climbing.

Steve F - 1 st Senior vet (over 50) and 52nd over all. 19 in Vet (over 40) (6 laps)
Mary W - 4 laps.

Thanks to Andy B for nutritional advise. 10 gells and 10l of carb mix....no food!

This was the most enjoyable bike event that I have ever attended. Highlights include:

Gondala ride to the resturant on Aonach Mor for Friday evening meal and sign on.
Finding out that my body keeps working after 4 hours!
Podium presentation in front of 1000 people on the same podium as the world cup guys will be using next weekend.

Try emailing the organiser. Perhaps they will send a trophy.

Wednesday 3rd June. Willie Rafferty Memorial 10 at Newton Mearns.

5th. Gordon Graham, 22' 50". Burning rubber on the turbo and form beginning to return...!!

Steve,

I was talking to Neil Walker at the 10 tonight. He rode ten laps a couple of years ago in the 'Ten under the Ben'. One of the toughest events he's ever ridden. I find 66 miles on the road tough enough... doing it off road and in 25 deg C.... I bet your legs are still hanging by a thread. Perhaps I'll give it a go in a couple of years.

I was working up at Tyndrum today and on the way back I passed a number of foereign pro mtb vehicles on the way north. I think they will have cooler conditions this weekend which is no bad thing.

Any idea if your mtb form transfers to the road? Guys like Kenta Gallagher seems to make it work.

Well done to both you and Mary. It's a shame Mary didn't get to stand on the podium too. Any photos for the website from the event?

Cheers, Gordon.

Hi GG,

Went out last night and the legs were still a bit stiff. I plan to do the Milport on Sunday. It will be the first time I have put my leg over a "real" bike in 6 months. Hope I can balance! Glad to hear you are getting some form.
