The days are shortening, but darkness is no impediment to keen Club cyclists. The Fullarton Wheelers 'Nighthawks', the informal name for a hard-core of riders who go out in the dark for their regular fix of group riding, have been in action this week. Nine members turned up for the Wednesday night Criterium around the street lit Marine Drive circuit in Irvine. The group worked well together, starting and finishing as one, with an average speed of 22.6 mph over the four laps. On Thursday it was another nocturnal ride into darkest Ayrshire via Symington, Knockentiber, Torranyard and Irvine to cover 28 miles. Clocking on for Thursday’s nightshift were Ally Kinnaird, George Gass, Mikey Allen and Garry Arneil.
