Natalie Hunter and Sean Barron represented Fullarton Wheelers at The Lothian Flyer Road Race in Stobo, Peebleshire on Saturday. The event promoted by Edinburgh Road Club was run over seven laps of an undulating circuit of 6 miles, featuring narrow country lanes and a few technical corners. Torrential rain was the order of the day making it even more testing. The race was quick from the off, the first lap being covered at over 25 mph by the leading riders. With the amount of standing water on the roads there were many crashes, particularly in the first few laps. Natalie, riding her first road race, finished as the first female rider and was 37th overall in a strong field of 50. A fantastic achievement. Sean avoided being caught up in the early crashes and remained in the leading group of around 15 and finished 9th overall with three riders from the promoting club taking all three podium places.
I've got six gears and I'm not afraid to use them...!
