Loch Thom Run Sunday 1st August 2010

Post by D. McL. » Sat 24 Jul, 2010 7:47 am

Hi Folks,

Loch Thom Run Sunday 1st August 2010

The route for this is as follows:

Irvine Cross, Kilwinning, Dalry, Largs, Brisbane Glen Road, Loch Thom, Greenock, Kilmacolm, Lochwinnoch for cafe stop at Castle Semple, Route 7 to Glengarnock, Highfield, Kilwinning, Irvine.

Irvine - Greenock - Irvine is around 63 miles. There is a shorter alternative if you park your car in Dalry and return there on the way back which would shorten the journey to around 48 miles.

Make sure you have a 25 tooth cassette or easier for the climb up the Kilmacolm Road out of Greenock! There is a regular bus goes past too. ;)

Cheers
D. McL.

Looking forward to this one Davie. Off next Sunday so all being well I'll be there. Will need to dig out the 27 for that climb though! If not I'll be oan that bus!

Which way are you heading to Dalry? I'll join the group at Kilwinning if possible.

Fingers crossed for good weather.

Sounds like a good ride, the climb is known as the clune brae and i used to climb it about 15 years ago in a 42 x 17 no probs.

but that was 15 yrs ago and i was only 12 stone, eek

Hi Michael,

We will be on the Hazeldean Road about 10.10am ish. You could ride down to Dalgarven and cross the road and meet up with us at the railway bridge on the road to Dalry.

Cheers

Everybody bring a bungee cord for hooking onto Chris's bike!!! ;)
